Equipment in Coal Mining Project

Coal mining equipment has expanded its uses and purposes as the excavation of coal has boomed in recent decades. Coal is used as a traditional fuel source as well as in the generation of electricity. Coal mining equipment has been modified and refurbished with fabricated adaptations to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Coal mining equipment is subject to needing repair due to the high demands placed on the parts during mining and processing. Coal mining equipment should be maintained by the most knowledgeable professionals available, to ensure optimal safety and efficient production for miners and manufacturers.

Drills

Drill machines are used to drill holes in the rock to place explosives. The drill machines are specifically designed for the purpose. Hand used drill machines are mostly used in Pakistan. The approximated cost of one drill machine set is 85000Rs. Two to three sets are required before touching the coal reserves.

Coal transport

Once cut, the coal has to be transported from the face area to the surface. Once the coal is cut from the seam, it has to be brought out to the surface through a haulage system.

Personnel and Material Transport

The mode of mine access (e.g. vertical shaft, inclined drift, in-seam access via outcrop, etc) determines the nature of transport systems used to transport personnel and materials into the mine.

Ventilation

Good quality air has to be provided for personnel to breath, to dilute both natural and introduced (e.g. diesel
exhaust) gases, to dilute or carry away dust and to provide cooling for personnel and machinery. A small quantity of air may flow through mine workings naturally but this would be insufficient and uncontrolled and therefore it is necessary to provide a mechanical means of ventilating the mine.
Important aspect which shall be kept in focus is that the ventilation system installed in first phase gets in sufficient as soon as mine goes beyond 1000 to 1500 feet underground. The larger ventilation system usually comes in focus after the coal production is already in process.

Vehicles

Most of mining sites are in remote areas where roads network is either not in good shape or does not even exist. An off-road vehicle is required in mining areas. Off-road vehicles are considered to be any type of vehicle which is capable of driving on and off paved or gravel surface. Apart from one off-road vehicle, one sedan car is required for city usage. Approximate cost of these two vehicles is around 2 Million Rs.

Life of off-road vehicle is estimated as 6 years after the purchase. In most of the scenarios, by the time vehicles gets to the point of completely depreciated, coal mine is in phase of production.

Generators

Mining sites are without the electricity provision. That creates the need of generators to provide electricity. Approximated cost of generators for the project is around 250,000Rs

Other Tools

There are various miscellaneous tools required in the project. The approximated cost is 150,000Rs. Project require new set of tools at crossing 1000 feet underground.
